Running Springs is Located 6,000 feet above sea level in the heart of the San Bernardino Mountains, only ninety minutes east of Los Angeles or three hours north of San Diego, centrally located between Snow Valley Ski Resort and Lake Arrowhead, seventeen miles west of Big Bear Lake. Truly a hidden gem away from the hustle bustle of Southern California!

Running Springs is a small, tight-knit community of some 5,200 full-time residents offering activities year round including skiing, snow boarding, cross country skiing, hiking, fishing, horseback riding, concerts, shopping, restaurants and other activities. Housing in the community is a blend of small cabins and cottages built in the 1940s and ‘50s and newer homes constructed over the past 20 years. The older cabins start at around $60,000 and range up to $200,000.. Newer single-family homes start at around $150,000 and run up to $500,000 or more for estate homes or properties with acreage. Lots and land for custom homes are also available.

Community

Running Springs has the most full time residents due to its easy access to "down the hill". As cozy town, it has all the conveniences without the traffic and tourist activity. It has 2 markets, a bank, a post office, restaurants, hair salons, a day care center, churches and a variety of gift and antiques shops. The only real tourist activity is soaking up the fresh mountain air! Since the area is surrounded by forest, hiking is just minutes from anywhere and the large ski resort of Snow Valley is just 5 miles away.

The Running Springs area is famous for a special place...the Daffodil Gardens. People come from all over the country to see the numerous hillsides covered with these gorgeous flowers. It is also a popular spot to take family, engagement and wedding photos.

Education

Students in Running Springs fall under the auspice of the Rim of the World Unified School District. Elementary school students can attend class at Charles Hoffman Elementary or the 1-12 private school, The Shepherds Flock Academy. The Shepherds Flock Academy is the only middle school in Running Springs, but there are multiple choices for public education in nearby Highland and Lake Arrowhead. The same is true for high school; students must travel at least as far as Highland or Lake Arrowhead for public education. For higher education, there are several institutions in San Bernardino, including San Bernardino Valley College, CSU San Bernardino, ITT Technical Institute, Loma Linda University and California Baptist College.
