Crestline CA Community & Homes for Sale

Welcome to Crestline, California - The gateway to the camping and recreation activities of the San Bernardino National Forest, because it is the closest mountain resort town to the major cities of Southern California. Only a 20-minute drive from San Bernardino, many remark that it seems like they are in a different world when they visit. The temperature is nearly always at least 20 degrees cooler than down the mountain, and there are four distinct seasons. Estimates are that about 50% of the employed people who live in Crestline and the surrounding areas commute down the mountain on a daily basis.

Education in Crestline

The Crestline community is served by the Rim of the World Unified School District. It includes two elementary schools (Valley of Enchantment Elementary and Lake Gregory Elementary), and one alternative high school (Mountain High, formerly the Mary Tone Elementary Building). There is also the Crestline Branch Library of San Bernardino County which will be moving to a new location next to Goodwin's Market, across the street from Lake Gregory in November 2010. The library is currently located at 23555 Knapp's Cutoff in Crestline.

Those who would like to stay for more than a day can find excellent accommodations at the local inns or lodging in rental cabins that are offered throughout the town. Take a trip to Crestline, the number one day drive mountain destination, to enjoy its natural beauty and take an easy break from the heat and congestion of the city.

At scenic Lake Gregory, a man made lake, created in the early 1930's, visitors may enjoy fishing, boating, swimming, sunbathing and waterslides. Fitness buffs will find many hiking and biking trails, and Lake Gregory is ringed by a state-of-the-art fitness trail with exercise stations. In summer, many visitors from the urban areas of Southern California come to Lake Gregory, where they can swim, ride on the lake’s two 300-foot waterslides, and rent paddleboards, rowboats, paddleboats, sailboats and water cycles. Outside of the swimming area, anglers will find excellent fishing for trout, catfish and bass.
